Last month’s gossip:
So, although all the staff and horses are happy the snow has been and gone, the few days we did have of it allowed some great snap shots to be had! The Shetlands Timmy and Tom had an amazing time taking the kids out to the park for some pony rides. The snowy sights in Richmond park were unforgettable, we are all very privileged to have such beautiful scenery in such an urban area.
Sadly the snow does cause some disruption to us here at KRC because as always we must put safety of our clients and horses first. The snow can become very slippery for the horses on any surface causing limited space for rides as well as the park being extremely busy with the public playing in the snow which can unease the horses. Staff and clients enjoyed riding in the snowy outdoor arena; although school exercises were limited it is still an excellent experience to be had.
The most important and exciting news of all is that we no longer have to use… WATER BUCKETS! As some of you may have noticed, daily we had to empty, rinse and fill up 246 water buckets! We thank the below zero weather for this as the taps (automatic water drinkers!!) had to be turned off. The staff are loving normal routine again.
For those who are not familiar with one of the most well known horse shows in the UK, Hickstead, here’s a brief outline. The show ground Hickstead is based in Sussex and is the home of British show jumping. Today over 100,000 spectators gather annually to watch not just show jumping, but pretty much every equine discipline that is commonly practiced throughout the UK. KRC is pleased to announce that again, we have been invited to compete in the team London riding schools championship 2013. This event is taking place on July the 10th 2013. A team of four riders from the selected riding schools in London will compete against each other in dressage. The highest scoring team members from each team will go on to compete against each other. We will keep you informed on the riders and practice for this exciting event. To find out more about Hickstead please go to:
