NEWSLETTER MARCH/APRIL 2013
So, here at KRC, we have all been enjoying the Easter weekend. Although the staff have been feeling very full of chocolate over the last few days, they have had a great time with all the Easter festivities. The bank holiday hacks have gone down a treat with both clients, staff and horses, who love nothing more than getting out in the beautiful park. These exciting hacks are held all year round so do get involved and remember to book early.
The British Horse Society was founded in 1947, it is a world known charity as well as an organisation that trains and educates all levels of levels of people within equine related subjects. It is the largest equine membership club within the UK with a vast number of 71,000 members alone, that’s before the 34,000 which are joined via the riding club. Riders and general ‘horsey’ people are able to take BHS exams and work their way up, some do this in aid of their career i.e. instructors or yard managers, but plenty take these exams for personal achievement, interest and education. See last page for qualifications hierarchy.
BHS Stage I at KRC
As mentioned previously, KRC were organising BHS stage I exam training. These sessions are well on the way and we have now held four. They have proved to be very popular with some amazing feedback from clients who are taking part. If you are interested in joining these training sessions do get in touch, we are happy to fill you in and answer any queries you have.
BHS Riding and Road Safety at KRC
The Riding and Road Safety training at KRC has just started and the exam is also to follow this month. This exam is very useful to have for anyone that rides out on hacks either alone or in company. Again, contact us here at KRC regarding any queries.
Some great news regarding one of our staff members, Katie, who has recently passed her BHS stage II , all the hard work does pay off. We have a few staff members studying for stages I – IV as well as teaching exams, as always you will be kept updated on the progress. as summer is on the way, staff are really getting into their riding as they hope to take some of the school horses out to upcoming competitions that are always great fun in the summer.
The team of riders who are competing at Hickstead in July have already started practicing and learning the dressage tests. We are all very excited about this event and very proud to be one of the London teams taking part, fingers crossed for the big day!
Upcoming events and news
We have another exciting show coming up so make sure you are free!

We have a new livery arrival, belonging to Phil Swallow, Tombo, is settling in very well and already has several members of staff adoring him. He is having good fun joining in the staff lessons with Nicky and we all look forward to seeing his progress here at KRC.
We also have some great news about Silver, who has now been named Riley. Riley has been bought and is being absolutely spoilt by his two new owners. He is still being kept here at KRC on livery which is lovely for both him and the staff who have become very fond of his lovable character.
Many of our horses are being shared by clients which is great. We are all more than aware that life often gets in the way of such things as owning a horse, sharing is a great way to et a feel for having that specific bond with one horse without the responsibilities that come with owning a horse. If this interests you give us a call and have a chat about what we could do to accommodate your needs regarding a share.
Spring is here…just about
The sun is slowly but surely making its way out, this is ever so exciting considering the extremely cold winter we have all had. Although we did love the snowy sights we we’re all blessed to share in Richmond park, the coldness did not make long walks and rides to appealing. Now we have so much to look forward to in the park, sun, green, animals and best of all….OFF TRACK! If you are new with us you won’t be familiar wit off track, this means we are allowed to ride basically everywhere and anywhere in the park, amazing experience and must be tried! We can also carry on hacking a lot later in the day in the spring/summer, such a perfect way to unwind after a stressful day at the office. Get in touch to discuss out hacks and packages.
We hope to see you all on Sunday 21st for some more show fun!
Until then, take care,
The KRC Team
